Faith Reminder - Your Faith Can Move Your Mountains!

Why am I...no..why HAVE I BEEN in a funk? Because there is nothing I can do, and I KNOW He can....it's the waiting, trying to focus...attack after attack after attack...so, here's a faith reminder not only to myself, but maybe to one of your readers as well...

"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. 'I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins." Mark 11:22-26

Entitlement...

Entitlement:
That's the attitude that Satan uses as his setup shot to spike a life-shattering sin right into your life. You feel "entitled" to some relief, to some pleasure, to some affection, to some sin, to get even, or to be bitter.

I have a friend right now who's abandoned his marriage, abandoned his ministry, believing that he's "entitled" to some love from someone else. He says, "Why are so many other people entitled to get a divorce and I'm not?" He's bought the entitlement lie, and Satan is using that to leave behind a trail of scarred and bleeding lives.

Be careful! The setup shot of feeling "entitled" is subtle.
It's expressed in feelings like these, "I deserve it after all I've done" or "after all I've been through." Or "I need it. I'm entitled to look after my needs for awhile." Or "Others are. Why can't I?"

If you're entertaining feelings like those, listen to the alarms going off today. You're being set up for something you never thought you would do or become. Satan uses the entitlement lie to give people an excuse for adultery, involvement with pornography, getting a divorce, sexual involvement, and harboring bitterness; all things that God hates. All things Jesus died to rescue you from.
Don't buy the entitlement lie; it is Satan's setup shot to spike something devastating into your life.

Enjoy Those Free, Easy to Follow Crochet Patterns

Review Time - Scanalog

I've had the absolute pleasure of reviewing the program Scanalog thanks to Kim at scanalog.com and let me tell you, I am thoroughly impressed!

Enter at their main page , then click on product for a summary of what it does.

Scanalog is a magazine cataloguing system- all you have to do is scan your treasured magazine article, recipe, child's artwork into the Scanalog system on your computer and then you can tag it and organize it and voila! You can keep it forever, know where it is, be able to find it again, and all without the stacks and clutter and mess!

I found scanalog very easy to use. The user guide explained everything and was easy to follow. The program comes with several very handy categories that you can put your stuff into. You are also able to add subcategories of your own which is very nice. For example under the crafts category I could add "crochet" or under the My Spirit category I could add "inspirational bible verses". It is wonderfully user friendly.

It is very easy to retrieve your stuff as well - no searching through random stacks of magazines for that one certain article you remember reading. The scans are easy to read, which you can adjust the view, print them up to share or what ever your need is, you can probably have this program do that too for you!! Oh this is truly a wonderful program....

So here's the bottom line: You look through a magazine and see an article that you want to save for future reference. You use one of the sticky tabs to mark that page. Later when you have the time, go to the computer and start Scanalog. Put the article in your scanner and click on Scan. Type the name of the magazine, title of the article, and the date. Then choose a category and subcategory. Add a few keywords (to be used later to help you find the article), and you are done. When you want to locate an article you simple click on the Search button and type in the name of the magazine or a keyword. You can also search for articles by looking through the categories and/or subcategories.

Seriously, I feel this program has a lot to offer. The way you can scan, save and then get rid of your piles (like I have) of magazines, paperwork, or any other scanable stuff you've got laying around, what an organizational friend!! Stop by Scanalog and give it a look through, I feel you will be as impressed as I am!

PS-regarding PDF's: Kim states: Scanalog was truly designed to help people to create their own library of their favorite magazine articles. By scanning, cataloging and actually being able to find them.,Scanalog makes your magazines and magazine investment so much more valuable. This should answer the PDF concerns.

Here's A Great Man Poem You Can Pass On...

I think it sums up nicely how a man should approach life: play fair, don’t whine when things don’t go your way, and bust your butt in everything you do. Play the game of life well, and you’ll be a success.

Life is a game with a glorious prize,
If we can only play it right.
It is give and take, build and break,
And often it ends in a fight;
But he surely wins who honestly tries
(Regardless of wealth or fame),
He can never despair who plays it fair
How are you playing the game?

Do you wilt and whine, if you fail to win
In the manner you think your due?
Do you sneer at the man in case that he can
And does, do better than you?
Do you take your rebuffs with a knowing grin?
Do you laugh tho’ you pull up lame?
Does your faith hold true when the whole world’s blue?
How are you playing the game?

Get into the thick of it - wade in, boys!
Whatever your cherished goal;
Brace up your will till your pulses thrill,
And you dare to your very soul!
Do something more than make a noise;
Let your purpose leap into flame
As you plunge with a cry, “I shall do or die,”Then you will be playing the game.

Palm Leaf Dinnerware Review - These Are AWESOME!!

Hi there everyone! I am doing my very first official review thanks to Justin at Marxfoods.com.

I want to tell you something, at first, I wasn't sure how to react to these plates because they're different than anything we're used to in regards to disposable plates. I admit, I was leary. They look and feel like a cross between wood and Styrofoam - but....looks are VERY deceiving!

These plates are amazing! I want to encourage you to not only look over their site for the environment factor, but because these plates are worth every penny!

I received these a few days ago and wanted to wait until I put them 'to the test' before mentioning anything to you and now that I have tried them and can talk to you about them, I am thoroughly impressed.

They are reusable, which is a huge plus for me as I really hate seeing the trash build up due to disposable everything anymore! I do my dishes in running water (have a small sink which doesn't have a stopper to soak dishes in), so they have been washed three times already and still have not yielded to use! I have microwaved honey bears dinner on them, which at first, they got a little softer, but hardened right up again - stronger then the best quality cardboard disposable ones you buy in the store, MUCH stronger in my opinion!

We've been using two different sizes of the round plates from the above set - they are PERFECT child size portioned or portion controlled diets - in other words, they are the perfect size for the right way of eating (not too big, not too small). As you can see in the picture, you will notice the wood grain appearance, it's REAL and this 'grain' you can feel in them too - I don't know, I find it kind of cool actually.

The information from the site is 100% accurate:

These eco-friendly serving dishes are perfect for your next dinner party! Each piece is unique, attractive, stylish, rustic, and elegant.

Included in this place setting is:
Round bowls for dips, 4 1/2" – 25 pcs Round bowl, 7 1/4", depth 1.5" – 25 pcs Round plate, 7 1/4", depth 1" – 25 pcs Round plate, 8 3/4", depth 1" – 25 pcs Forks (birchwood) – 25 pcs Knives (birchwood) – 25 pcs Spoons (papel wood) – 25 pcs

These environmentally friendly palm dishes are natural, renewable, and a biodegradable raw material. Naturally discarded sheaths of the leaves of the Adaka palm tree are collected, which in the course of its biological life cycle, dries, falls and regenerates. No trees are cut down. The palm sheaths are then cleaned in fresh spring water and molded into shapes.
Their leak proof property and ability to withstand hot and cold temperature without getting soggy or flimsy make it a product that is one of its kind.

I did some researching on the net regarding these plates and everyone has the same thing to say that I do, we really like the environmental quality of them AND the durability. Realistically, when you think about it, if you were to buy enough heavy duty cardboard plates and enough silverware (plastic) as you receive in this set, you are basically paying the same price - the added benefit is the environmental impact your purchase will make. That choice is yours!

I am thoroughly impressed and will come to Marxfoods.com for our next get together to purchase a set - yes, they're worth it...OH! And honey bears' opinion? He was just like me, leary at first because we're not used to seeing disposable dishes like this (we're used to the store variety), but after only one use, he was sold.

There you have it, another Thumbs Up From Me and I truly hope that you will not only browse Marxfoods.com to see what they're all about, but will also really consider making your next purchase of disposable dishes from them.

While you're there, why don't you check out their blog where you can win great food items!

Becoming The Woman Of Our Man's Dreams...

That's important to all of us women, isn't it? I mean...when you first met, he fell in love with YOU over anyone else...right? Well, this is another reminder to myself that I want to post here to give others' a chance to reflect as I find myself doing today as it's my honey bears birthday tomorrow...and I would like very much to give him the gift of being the woman of his dreams every day of his life...something I have been falling short on lately.

Oh mind you, I'm just like everyone else...he does or says something incredibly silly, and then acts like he didn't do anything wrong...do you know how ANNOYING that is?! Well, it's gotten the best of me lately and I really do love him with all of my heart...so, here's a reminder to myself, and I hope you find words of wisdom in here too...

Becoming the woman of his dreams won't happen until we decide we would rather win his heart than win the battle, do right than be right, give more than get more, wrap our arms around him instead of wrap him around our little finger. Becoming the woman of his dreams involves sacrifice. It involves respecting him as a man and a leader, adoring him as the one who makes your heart skip a beat, initiating intimate friendship through creating commonalities, safeguarding your home by putting him second only to God, encouraging him in his pursuits and dreams, and sexually fulfilling him. Many times this means denying ourselves and putting our man's needs above our own.

Hollywood tells us that we will be happy when we "find the right person." However, I have discovered that a successful and happy home life occurs when we become the right person.

Here's a very well put together prayer for myself and anyone else feeling the way I am today:

I pray that I will never try to lift myself up by putting him down. Lord, I pray that I will not be a proud woman who refuses to listen to him, who always has to have the last word, who always thinks her way is best. I pray that I will not be rude to him with curt comments, disregard his needs, and be ungrateful for all he does and is, but treat him with the respect and honor that the king of a castle deserves.

I pray that I will not be self seeking, always thinking about what is best for me, but thinking of what would be best for him. I pray that I will not be angered easily, not hold a grudge, not keep a record of wrongs, not plan ways to retaliate, and not use my tongue as a weapon to cause pain. I pray that I will not rejoice and say "I told you so" when things don't work out the way he hoped.

Lord, above all, I pray that he will see me as his chief cheerleader who desires to rejoice with him in his victories, both big and small. He will see me as one who longs to protect our home and our love. Help me to create a warm and loving environment in which he feels safe, wanted, and revered.

I pray that you will give me endurance when things get tough. Help the word quit to never enter my mind or cross my lips as an option.

Lord, I know that love never fails and that You never fail. Fill me with your Holy Spirit to give me the endurance to stand up under trials and love him as You would have me love him -- In Jesus' name, Amen.

(thanks to Sharon Jaynes for starting me on this reflection)

A Friendly Prayer Reminder Today...

I'm in a funk today...I've spent my moring praying seemingly non-stop to get me out of it or quickly throughh it...so, I opened this email message I got today and it just seemed to fit the bill for me...my spiritual aspirin:

Create Your Prayer Shield
There is power when you multiply. Jesus promised results when two or more agree in prayer. Think of those you know who have an effective prayer life. Make a list of seven to act as intercessors and contact them. This shall be your hedge or prayer shield. Know that you are protected.
“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:19-20)

When You Watch These Ads, The Ads Check You Out

Watch an advertisement on a video screen in a mall, health club or grocery store and there’s a slim - but growing - chance the ad is watching you too.
Small cameras can now be embedded in the screen or hidden around it, tracking who looks at the screen and for how long. The makers of the tracking systems say the software can determine the viewer’s gender, approximate age range and, in some cases, ethnicity - and can change the ads accordingly.
And even if the ads don’t shift based on which people are watching, the technology’s ability to determine the viewers’ demographics is golden for advertisers who want to know how effectively they’re reaching their target audience.
So a video screen might show a motorcycle ad for a group of men, but switch to a minivan ad when women and children join them, said Vicki Rabenou, the chief measurement officer of Tampa, Fla.-based TruMedia Technologies Inc., one of the leaders in developing the technology.
“This is proactive merchandising,” Rabenou said. “You’re targeting people with smart ads.”

"Four things"By Bob Perks

"Four things"By Bob Perks

I wondered why it rained when sun was what I needed. Then I realized the rain washed away the dust that settled so easily on meas I had recently taken to standing still.

I wondered why life seemed to pass me by.Then I realized I was not living, just simply existing. Living requires participation.

I wondered why no one ever listened to what I had to say. Then I realized I had only beentalking about myself and all my troubles.I was the one not listening to them.

I wondered why God had abandoned me. Then I realizedI had abandoned God.

I wondered why I was not happy. Then I realizedstanding still, simply existing, whining and turning my back on God, does not make for a
happy life.

Four things...
1. See the sun when it rains.
2. Accept that life evolves with you, it doesn't revolve around you.
3. Understand that God gave you two ears and one mouth. You need to listen more than you speak.
4. Plan with God for He has plans for you.

Guide to Quilting

Guide to Quilting
Beginner's Guide to Quilting & Free Designs 4 U

“Treat Me As I Treat My Neighbor.”

Nice reminder....

by Max Lucado

Are you aware that this is what you are saying to your Father? Give me what I give them. Grant me the same peace I grant others. Let me enjoy the same tolerance I offer. God will treat you the way you treat others.

In any given Christian community there are two groups: those who are contagious in their joy and those who are cranky in their faith. They’ve accepted Christ and are seeking him, but their balloon has no helium. One is grateful, the other is grumpy. Both are saved. Both are heaven bound. But one sees the rainbow and the other sees the rain.

Could this principle explain the difference? Could it be that they are experiencing the same joy they have given their offenders? One says, “I forgive you,” and feels forgiven. The other says, “I’m ticked off,” and lives ticked off at the world.

It’s as if God sends you to the market to purchase your neighbor’s groceries saying, “Whatever you get your neighbor, get also for yourself. For whatever you give him is what you receive.”
Let’s take this a step further. Suppose your neighbor’s trash blows into your yard. You mention the mess to him, and he says he’ll get to it sometime next week. You inform him that you’ve got company coming and couldn’t he get out of that chair and do some work? He tells you not to be so picky, that the garbage fertilizes your garden. You’re just about to walk across the lawn to have a talk when God reminds you, “Time to go to the market and buy your neighbor’s groceries.” So you grumble and mumble your way to the store, and then it hits you, “I’ll get even with the old bum.” You go straight to the skim milk. Then you make a beeline to the anchovies and sardines. You march right past the double-chocolate ice cream and head toward the okra and rice. You make a final stop in the day-old bread section and pick up a crusty loaf with green spots on the edge.

Chuckling, you drive back to the house and drop the sack in the lap of your lazy, good-for-nothing neighbor. “Have a good dinner.” And you walk away.

All your brilliant scheming left you hungry, so you go to your refrigerator to fix a sandwich, but guess what you find. Your pantry is full of what you gave your enemy. All you have to eat is exactly what you just bought. We get what we give.

Some of you have been eating sardines for a long time. Your diet ain’t gonna change until you change. You look around at other Christians. They aren’t as sour as you are. They’re enjoying the delicacies of God, and you’re stuck with okra and anchovies on moldy bread. You’ve always wondered why they look so happy and you feel so cranky. Maybe now you know. Could it be God is giving you exactly what you’re giving someone else?

Another Personal Review...

Remember me winning this Kimberly Clark prize? Well, in it was a roll of the new Scott brand tissue paper:

At first, I wasn't too interested in it because I had stopped buying these kinds of paper due to the balls of whatever they leave behind (lint, paper, etc)...well, these ARE thick, they ARE soft and leave NO traces behind! I only buy Scott tissue, the regular roll kind (hard, thin), but this one simple roll just sold me. I am now switching - not brands, but styles.

I say thumbs up Scott tissue!!

I Needed This Reminder Today...

I thank Heart of Wisdom Blog for this post she has, as I really, really needed it today:

Meditate daily on God’s love conveyed through the words of Psalm 91. Memorize it so that you are able to recite it in times of trouble. It is one of the most powerful psalms ever written. Every word is filled with the presence of God enveloping you in God’s love and protection.

Because I dwell in the secret place Of the Most High, I shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, You are My Refuge and my Fortress: My God; In You will I trust.
Surely You will deliver me from The snare of the fowler, And from the deadly pestilence.
You shall cover me with Your feathers, And under Your wings shall I trust. Your truth shall be my sheild and buckler.
I shall not be afraid of the terror by night; Or of the arrow that flies by day;
Or of the pestilence that walks in darkness; Or of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at my side, And ten thousand at my right hand, But it shall not come near me.
Only with my eyes will I behold and see the reward of the wicked.
Because I have made the Lord, Who is my Refuge, Even the Most High, My dwelling place,
There shall no evil befall me, Neither shall any evil come near my house.
For You shall give Your angels charge over me, To keep me in all of my ways.
They shall bear me up on their hands, Lest I dash my foot on a stone.
I shall tread upon the lion and adder; The young lion and the serpent I shall trample under foot.
Because I have set my love upon You, Therefore You will deliver me.
You will set me on high, Because I have known Your Name.
I shall call upon You, And You will answer me. You will be with me in trouble; You will deliver me, And honor me.
With long life You will satisfy me, And show me Your salvation.

WHAT'S LOVE?
Love is...What makes a weak man brave
And a king step off his throne

Since Valentines Day Is Right Around The Corner...

I decided to brave up and share a love letter I wrote ....

I Love You
I wrote this years ago for the man of my dreams - one day I was so overwhelmed with how much he meant to me and this was my gift to him. Years later, so much has happened, but when I look at him - truly look at the man that God created, the man I met, fell in love with, believe in with all my heart, yeah...these words are just as true today as ever!

My Review Of Hostess 100 Calorie Snacks...

Another purchase that deserves a review...

So far, the ONLY product I have bought lately (actually didn't BUY as I had a coupon for a free package) was the Newman's Own fig newton type of cookie, which were AWESOME!

Anyway....with that $100 gift card we won, we went to Walmart to pick up some stuff. I had a coupon for $1 off one box of the new Hostess 100 Calorie snacks and chose the Carrot Cake little muffins and here's my honest take of them:

1-the size is ridiculous: they are about 1-1 1 1/2" around and 1/2" thick (you put the three that come in a package on top of each other and it would measure half of a regular size muffin that you'd expect to find (but they include three, maybe that's to make you feel like you ate a lot??)

2-the icing is super sweet. Honey bear is diabetic and he took one bite and gave it back to me because of the sweetness. And me, who you KNOW won't turn down ANY form of sweets, well, I think the icing is too sweet too.

3-the best part of them is the filling. there's a cream filling that in my own personal opinion, if you just have the teeny weeny muffin withe the filling, it would be perfect, just not attractive.

4-would I buy them again? no...simply because of the icing and the size. Although it's the latest 'thing' to make these new snack size treats, that doesn't make it wise or buyable. What's that saying I always bring up around home? JUST BECAUSE WE CAN, DOESN"T MEAN WE SHOULD.

My outcome opinion is this, if you have a coupon, kids, or the opportunity to get these free (or at a real good deal), go for it. Otherwise, don't spend your money, not in today's times, it's simply not worth it.

I know that these are meant to be calorie friendly, but seriously, the carrot cake is good, but the over sweetness of the icing just did it in for me...

Foods to Avoid Before Puckering Up on Valentine's Day

It is true that certain foods and drinks can contribute to bad breath more than others. This surprising and handy list includes some of the many common culprits:

Chocolate (sugar actually feeds bacteria)
Ice cream (like all dairy products)
Italian food (most contains garlic)
Pizza (usually contains garlic and cheese, and often onions)
Cabbage (contains sulfur)
Brussels sprouts (contains sulfur)
Wine, champagne, beer (dries out the mouth)

Do You Want To Know What Makes Me Smile Right Now?

Man, either I'm the luckiest woman in the world OR I'm just silly..

But my honey bear is sleeping so soundly behind me, snoring, deep breathing...it's basically the only sound I hear except for the birds outside....AND get this, our dog, our girl...what an angel....she's ALSO snoring, keeping in tune with honey bear!!

This moment, this place in time, when these two loves of my life are chiming together such beautiful music, I feel completely blessed...

If you're angry with a loved one...

If you're angry with a loved one, hug that person. And mean it. You may not want to hug - which is all the more reason to do so. It's hard to stay angry when someone shows they love you, and that's precisely what happens when we hug each other.

Look For A Twofold Blessing...

Study the stories of Job, Joseph and Daniel in the Bible. Notice that hardship always gave way to a season of Twofold Blessings in their lives. When you find yourself in the midst of adversity, look ahead for the miracles that are coming next. Learn to recognize them.

“And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.” (Job 42:10)

As lost as I personally get some days, I too, have to remember to pray for my friends...let's try to always keep this job of ours at the forefront of our minds...pray for our friends..
